WELCOME TO THE 2021 DMEC DRIVER GRID & REVISED CALENDAR

With drift fans and drivers anxiously awaiting the return of European drifting, today we are delighted to announce both our exciting driver line-up that DMEC fans can look forward to watching compete in the 2021 DMEC season, as well as an updated calendar of events for the coming season, which will see DMEC move from a 5-round to a 6-round season featuring not one, but two action-packed “double-header” weekends.

Firstly, you have all been asking us who will be driving in DMEC 2021? Well we think it’s pretty safe to say that the ‘Premier League’ of European Drifting is back, as this year we have put together an exhilarating driver line-up containing a total of 56 drivers from 22 nations worldwide. These 56 drivers will fight it out over our new 6-round calendar to see which of them will be crowned the one true champion of European drifting. As always, we’ll also be throwing some extra incredibly-talented wildcard drivers into the mix at select DMEC 2021 events to mix things up even more!

Thought the updates were over? Think again! Today we’re also pleased to confirm that for 2021, DMEC will be moving back to a 6-round series. As always our DMEC team are constantly striving to bring fans the most adrenaline-fuelled, entertainment-filled and ground-breaking events possible. Despite the difficulties faced by the DMEC team, drivers, fans and partners due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we remain more committed than ever before to ensuring the DMEC 2021 calendar represents that ethos and our constant goal of pushing professional drifting to new and exciting heights.

In order to ensure this can still be the case, whilst also ensuring we can make the season as achievable and manageable as possible for our full driver line-up, we are excited to announce that the 2021 DMEC calendar will now contain a total of 6 rounds instead of 5, which will take place over a total of 4 weekends from June to September, 2021, feature 2 incredible action-packed “double-header” events that will take place in Lillesand, Norway and Riga, Latvia. As such, the new DMEC 2021 calendar is as follows:

Round 1 & 2 – Norway (Lillesand Arena) – June 24-26
We now start our 2021 calendar with our first-ever double-header weekend in the brand-new, scenic and challenging Lillesand Arena circuit in Norway. Recently constructed, this course features extreme elevation changes and high-speed sections. Our Norwegian fans are some of the series’ most passionate, so all drivers will be putting on a show to win their respect. Our first Scandinavian DMEC event was always going to be unmissable, but with a brand-new venue, scores reset to zero and 2 chances to score championship points, our 2021 season opener is going to be crazier than we could ever have imagined!

Round 3 – Austria (PS Racing Center) – July 10-11
Next up our 56-strong DMEC driver line-up travels to the fast, technical, and challenging PS Racing Center in Greinbach, Austria. With 2 chances to earn maximum points already done and dusted, the hunt for the DMEC championship crown will be hotting up. Who will come out on top in Austria and lead the pack heading into the second half of the season? It’s almost time to find out.

Round 4 & 5 – Latvia (Bikernieku Trase Circuit) – July 30-Aug 1
It’s Riga baby! The most infamous drift event in the world returns for 2021 and this time it’s bigger than ever before, because we’ve got another incredible double-header event in store for our adoring DMEC fans. As always, you can expect an extreme full-throttle layout, parades, after-parties and all the mayhem a European drift event should contain. Couple that with this second “double-points weekend” and our DMEC driver grid will be pushing themselves to limits they never thought possible to give themselves that all-important advantage heading into our season finale.

Round 6 – Georgia (Tbilisi City Centre) – September 4-5
What if we told you that the Georgian government suggested shutting down the centre of Tbilisi city and turning the public streets into a custom DMEC drift circuit for one weekend only? It may sound like fantasy, but the most ambitious drift event on earth has now become a reality. The DMEC 2021 season finale will be the wildest drift event ever attempted. A champion will be crowned on the streets of Georgia!

Thanks to the unwavering support from our drivers, fans, local promoters, series sponsors and media partners, we are proud to present the most ambitious season of European drifting in history. New circuits, returning favourites and city streets will play backdrop to the most competitive action ever witnessed worldwide. Drivers representing 22 countries will compete for the biggest prize in the game, the 2021 Drift Masters European Championship title. We appreciate the patience our fans worldwide have shown over this past year, and now it’s time to reward that patience.

We hope you are all as excited as we are to kick off the DMEC 2021 series and we are intending on making up for lost time with these incredible events. All rounds will be free to watch on Red Bull TV, with a whole host of digital and presentation upgrades coming your way.

Just like before and as with all public events during the COVID-19 pandemic, dates may be subject to change. That said, we will be doing everything in our power to fulfil this revised DMEC 2021 calendar and hope you will all join us, online or in person, for an incredible year of professional drifting.
