IT’S RIGA BABY! After almost exactly a year, the Drift Masters parade rolled back into Riga, Latvia today as our second double-header of the DMEC 2021 season got underway with the first practice of the weekend and Qualifying action for Round 3.

The action kicked off in glorious sunshine, but quite quickly the Baltic rain-clouds rolled in leaving a patchy track for drivers to get to grips with; As if the track wasn’t already difficult enough for the DMEC driver grid to get used to!

As 5pm rolled around and Qualifying got underway, the weather was looking up, which led to plenty of incredible runs from the entire grid, including our Top 3 scoring runs in the form of a 91.00 point run from returning King of Riga, James Deane, an amazing 88.00 point run from British young-gun Max Cotton and an incredibly entertaining 87.00 point run for returning Polish driver Pawel Korpulinski.

Unfortunately though, the weather soon took a turn for the worst before the first half of qualifying was done, which made the track even more challenging for the remaining drivers to battle through.

Round 1 & 2 winner Piotr Wiecek struggled to gain momentum in the wet weather, managing to put in a 75.00 point run to bag himself a final position of 18th, just ahead of Oliver Randalu in 19th & Conor Shanahan in 20th, both of whom couldnt’ better a 75.00 point score across both runs.

So the question is who does gain the most from today’s qualifying session? The answer, of course, is you our amazing DMEC fans because we are going to be treated to some absolutely INSANE battle right from the off in tomorrow’s Top 32 Battles.
