James Deane has topped qualifying here at Austria’s PS Racing Center on day 1 of Round 2 of the 2022 Drift Masters European Championship (DMEC)

Here at the foot of the Austrian Alps, our 2018 and 2019 DMEC champion Deane put in back-to-back 96-point runs during the opening day of our Round 2 action to narrowly overcome Norwegian driver Tor Arne Kvia in second and third place finisher, and current DMEC points-leader, Piotr Wiecek.

Deane was delighted to take top spot in today’s competition, saying “I’m really happy to get P1 in qualifying today with two back to back 96 point runs. It puts us in a great position moving into tomorrow’s battles and I’m excited to keep pushing hard during the main competition.”

Tomorrow our DMEC Round 2 action resumes as Top 32 battles kick off at 12.45pm local Austrian time (GMT +1) exclusively live on Red Bull TV, before Top 16 gets underway at 4.00pm local time.
