The legendary cry of “It’s Riga Baby!” rocked the Bikernieku Trase today here in the Latvian capital, as we got our Round 4 action underway with our fourth qualifying session of the 2023 Drift Masters European Championship (DMEC) calendar. Today’s session saw 52 of the World’s best drivers throw it all on the line, as they set their sights on the Top 32 qualifying places on one of the most beloved circuits on the calendar.

As the sun set through the trees at the picturesque circuit here in Riga, it would be our reigning DMEC champion, Piotr Wiecek emerging triumphant and taking first place in Qualifying, putting in a blistering performance that scored him a formidable 98 points with one of the best runs we have ever seen on this circuit. Wiecek’s fearless driving style, combined with his pinpoint precision meant there would be no topping his best attempt.

Hot on Wiecek’s tracks, Irish driver Conor Shanahan certainly made his presence known. A score of 94 points on his second run showcased the younger Shanahan brother’s exceptional skills, reinforcing why he is our current championship points-leader.

But the action didn’t stop there. The up-and-coming Estonian young-gun Kevin Pesur secured a very worthy third place with 93 points. Becoming increasingly known for his aggressive yet controlled style, Pesur’s performance underscored why he’s making quite the name for himself during his first year on the DMEC driver grid.

The thrill of today’s Round 4 Qualifying session only serves to heighten anticipation for the Top 32 battles, which kick off tomorrow at 2:00pm local Latvian time, when our amazing DMEC fans worldwide can tune in live exclusively on Red Bull TV to catch every moment of our Riga Baby showdown.

Don’t forget though, the journey doesn’t end in Latvia. The championship heads next to Germany’s Ferropolis for Round 5 from August 17th to 19th. With the end in sight, we’re firmly on the “Road to the Finale” at Poland’s PGE Narodowy on September 15th & 16th, where the season’s champion will be crowned. Make sure you head to dm.gp/events now to get your hands on tickets for our final 2 events of what has already been an incredible DMEC 2023 season.
